Admission to this hugely enjoyable and very colourful event is free. It is supported by BBC Radio Asian Network, the Mayor of London, the Arts Council and Ealing and Hounslow Borough Councils

The first London Mela took place in the park in 2003 and attracted 60,000 people, and the second drew over 90,000, though the big sports field absorbs the crowds brilliantly. This is a major event for the capital city, celebrating the culture and creativity of South Asia and its diaspora. The crowds are made up of all ages and all cultures and there is plenty to do throughout the afternoon and evening.

The Mela offers urban, classical and experimental music, DJs, dance, visual arts, circus and a huge funfair as well as a wide variety of stalls and foods. The Magic Mela area is for children with Punch and Judy, story telling and other performers.

Travel by public transport if you possibly can - Acton Town tube station is about 10 minutes' walk and the E3 bus stops at the main gate of the Park and at other gates further west in Popes Lane. Though there is parking on the field,  it can take a long time both to get in and to leave at busy times so you can find yourself in queuing.
